'Harapanku 2013' (translated as, 'My Hope'). My love for music has thus brought me this far in yet another ambitious project by Charity Through Music for the homes for needy kids in which I was requested to help. Last year I arranged four songs (Harapanku 2012) originally composed by Leonard and Appy.
I heard about this new album through the Facebook page and since I was involved in the recent one, I was curious. Well, I called up Jamieson about it. After some introduction to the new project and run-up to the planned events, I said "Yes." Personally, I wanted a new challenge, to arrange and mix Korean compositions. Not to imply that they are different, but the deluge of the Korean wave that hit the world these days, they are unique in style and current expectations.
Featuring an international collaboration of Seoul-Jesselton 지훈 /Jamieson for the coming recording album Korean-Malay/English album. Pushing the limits to work from 3 different cities, Seoul-Jesselton-Beijing.
The Concept ~ excerpt from their Facebook page.
Charity Through Music by Jamieson Fung is an independent non-profit musical-related programme which will be held regularly for charity intention.
We organise and present a combination of different & innovative musical programmes all year round. Through these musical programmes, we shall gather funds for humanitarian aid/works to lessen the burden of the independent children’s homes catering for underprivileged, less-fortunate and disable children.
The overall concept was encapsulated, conceived and founded by Jamieson Fung in March 2012.

With only a video of the demo song being played on a guitar and sung by Appy Tots, the composer of the song - I arranged and experimented with three different genres. The final version of the song was my third attempt in finding a perfect fit for this composition. Quite inexplicably, how this song came to its form then was, well..another story. But let us just take it as that. Do visit Charity Through Music's page on Facebook to know more about them. (Click on the highlighted section above).
This year's album had me a little more involved in recording backing vocals for the song. Earlier during our initial planning for this project, I was appointed to mix and master for the album. My learning curve shot up straight away! Now you know why this year's project proved to be a challenge for me.
Here is a sample of the 2013 duet version of 'Harapanku'.

Do share to me your thoughts and comments. Meanwhile I'll post up updates on the four Korean songs that I am working on now once some of them are done.
